Patience is a Virtue

Recently, I went to Animania, an ani-con held in Sydney, Australia twice a year. While there, I purchased a few models to build, as a way to pass the time. This week, I finally got around to completing them. I'm a procrastinator, so, it takes me awhile to do things, heh. It was an enjoyable experience, to sit down and build something, and now I have the proof of my work scattered about my room. It's odd, though. I've never had the patience to sit down and do something like this before. Maybe I'm growing up...... Anyways, I'll leave with a pic of what one of my models looks like, more to come later.....

Autumn is here

And so with a fond farewell, I bid my most despised season, Summer, goodbye. Enter Autumn, which unfortunately, is still fairly hot and humid. Hopefully, it'll cool down by the end of the month, i'm sick of hot weather.

Having to work outdoors for a living, it slowly kills you. Day by day, the intolerable heat grinds you down. I have friends who say: "Oh, but it's nice and warm outside!". Oh yeah? Go and do some tough physical labour in it, day after day, and see how you feel then....

And as a gesture to your local postman, if you see him struggling in the heat, take em out a cold drink, they don't forget who shows kindness, I assure you.

Stay frosty, kids

Neighbours

Well, today I'll be discussing neighbours, and how people should co-exist with one another. Let me give you a bit of back story.

I live with complete and utter jackasses for neighbours, for the most part, whose normal voice volume would be a normal persons shouting voice. They all drive cars with loud exhausts, and think it's the height of entertainment to sit in their front yard, revving their engines at 6 in the morning. To top that off, around the corner from my street, there are the idiot wanna be bikers, who think they are tough by riding their "Hogs" up and down the road.

So, I ask you, is it so much to ask for a little peace and quiet? I mean, seriously, do these people ever stop and think: "Hmmmm, there are other people living next to me, maybe I should be a little quieter?". The answer is no. I try to be quiet, I realise there are other people nearby, so I don't scream, I don't make unneccesary noise, and I don't have a yappy dog in the back yard. If all people acted like this, and just showed a bit of common courtesy, we would all get along better.........

Psalm of Planets: Eureka seveN

Ok, time for another review! Today, I'll tell you about Eureka seveN, a mecha anime. The story centers around two young people, Renton Thurston, a 15 year old boy, and Eureka, a girl of unknown origins. Set on a planet that is somewhat similar to Earth, this planet is under attack by a mysterious race called "Coralians". The stroy starts with Renton, who lives in a sleepy town call Bell Forest, his life is changed when the is an aeriel fight over Bell Forest, between Gekkostate, which is a rebel group, and the Military. Both sides use LFO's which a mechs which use devices called "Lift-boards", which are similar to surfboards to harness the energy of the planet, called "Trapars" to fly through the air. Eureka is shot down, and crashes her LFO into Renton's house, and his Grandfathers Mech mechanic garage, destroying them. Renton falls in love with her on first sight, and is compelled to follow after her, and soon after joinjs Gekkostate, which Eureka is a part of, to fight against the military.

Anyways, without spoiling the storyline too much, I'll say that this is one of the best anime I have ever seen, the only downside being that the story feels a little rushed at the end, because they cram a lot of important plot points into the last few episodes. It also has a really superb soundtrack, here's a link to my favourite track, "Get it by your Hands".

So, in closing, I give this anime a 9 out of 10, not a perfect because of the rush at the end. Also, there is a movie as well, it's called Eureka seveN: A Pocketful of Rainbows. It has the same characters as the series, but it's a completely different storyline. Maybe I'll do a review on it some day, I thought it was alright. Anyways, I'll leave off with a picture of Eureka, stay frosty out there.......

Ferals

Well, after I finished work today, I was walking past my local train station, and I saw this woman talking on a public telephone. Her car was parked a couple of metres away, with the engine idling, and 2 babies and a little girl sitting unattended in the back seat. It occured to me then, how do such people get away with breeding? I mean, that's the type of thing you don't ever do. All it takes is for the girl to disengage the handbrake, or some random pedo to steal the car, and you're screwed. How do such people get away with it? Don't they stop to think: "maybe this is a bad idea?". People these days............

Berserk

Ok, my post today will be about the anime, Berserk. This is an old anime that aired about 12 years ago now, inspired by Medieval Europe. There is both an anime and a manga, which is still being published today. The storyline starts with 2 warring kingdoms, Midland and Chuda, who have been fighting one another for 100 years. The main character is a mercenary called Gatsu (Guts in the manga) who was born from a hanged woman under a tree. He was raised by a mercenary called Gambino, who taught him swordplay, and the art of war. One night, when Gatsu is young, about 10 years old, Gambino tries to kill Gatsu in a drunken rage, but is killed by Gatsu in self-defence, who then has to flee Gambino's companions, who think he murdered him.

Over the years, Gatsu picks up work as a mercenary, eventually coming to the attention of a feared band of mercenaries under Midland's army, called the Band of the Hawks. A cocky mercenary from this group attacks him, and is cut down by Gatsu. A female commander called Caska rushes in to attack him then, meaning to kill him in retribution, but Gatsu knocks her down, and is about to be killed, when the leader, Griffith, stops the fight. Gatsu tries to fight him, but is beaten, and then indebted to Griffith, who makes him serve in his band.

Gatsu then makes a name for himself over the years, cutting down people with the huge blade he wields, which is nearly as big as he is. Griffith takes note of this and promotes him to a commander position, and forms a relationship with him. At this point, Gatsu learns of an item that Griffith always wears, called the egg of the king. This is a necklace that has a red egg, with what looks like closed eyes, all over it, attached to it. It's wearer is promised power......but only at the cost of flesh and blood. From this point demons, and the like show up in the story, and things get pretty gory. I'd like to post more, but I don't want to spoil the anime for you. Check it out, it's and oldie, but it's awesome. I'll end this post with a pic of Gatsu, stay frosty out there, people.

Screaming at the Sun

Bleh, crazy weather here in Sydney this week >_<. Alternating between pounding thunderstorms and 100% humidity. And the worst part? Working outdoors in it -_-. Oh, my Kingdom for an Air Conditioner......
